πŸ“Œ Cause Connect – nonprofit 🀝 students

FigmaTypescriptMUI

Project: Boston, MA   |   Timeframe: 2024 - now   |   Category: Healthcare

Problem Statement:
There is a need for international students with little to no experience to gain more opportunities in order to get better job employment chances and overall success.

Why I Built This:
As an international student, I personally feel the struggle. Gaining relevant experience is challenging when visa restrictions and lack of networks block many paths. During my time working with multiple nonprofits, I saw the other side tooβ€”how many of them operate with minimal resources and often lack the modern tools needed to engage effectively. Many leaders are not tech-savvy, and that creates a gap when trying to connect with younger audiences. We want to simplify the way both students and nonprofits can collaborate, upskill, and thrive together.

So, what if we widen the gap of opportunities?

🎯 My Role & Contributions

I founded and led Cause Connect from concept to implementation. My main contributions include:

  • Conducted user interviews with 20+ international students and 10+ nonprofit stakeholders
  • Designed wireframes and interaction flows in Figma
  • Presented at Innovate@BU Pitch Day and gathered live feedback

These efforts helped validate product-market fit and revealed core user pains and motivations.

πŸ“Š Key Metrics & Highlights

  • Matched 50+ students with real nonprofit opportunities during pilot
  • Reduced onboarding friction by 60% with automated profile parsing
  • 20% increase in nonprofit project completion via student engagement
  • Positive feedback from 4 community partners and BU mentors

While still early, these initial wins reaffirm the impact Cause Connect can deliver.

Stay tuned for more progress soon – this journey is just beginning πŸš€
